Help Scout is a customer support platform that helps businesses manage customer conversations across email, chat, and help docs in a simple, human way. Its products are used by growing teams to deliver high-quality support at scale, combining powerful tools with a clean, user-friendly experience across web and mobile.
The company needed to modernize and scale several core parts of its product ecosystem. This included migrating legacy frontend applications from Backbone/Marionette to modern frameworks, breaking down a backend monolith into microservices, and increasing development velocity on its iOS app, which was lagging behind the Android version. We love a good challenge around here, so this was an opportunity we could not miss.
On the frontend, our team migrated sidebar applications from Backbone/Marionette to Next.js and moved key areas of the main web app, such as Company Settings and Docs Settings, to React using tRPC for direct, type-safe frontend–backend communication. On the backend, a Java developer with Spring Boot expertise helped decompose a monolithic system into microservices. In parallel, we reinforced the iOS team, contributing to core features like Conversation Dock, Beacon, and Threads styling.
Help Scout successfully advanced its modernization efforts across web, backend, and mobile platforms. Legacy technologies were replaced with scalable, modern architectures, frontend performance and maintainability improved, and iOS development velocity increased to better align with Android. By embedding experienced developers directly into critical teams, CodigoDelSur helped unblock progress across multiple product areas and supported Help Scout’s continued growth with a more flexible and future-ready technical foundation.
