Taste is a film recommendation app that learns what a person actually likes and matches them with people whose taste is similar, instead of ranking by popularity. CodigoDelSur took over its existing iOS and Android MVP, stabilised it, and then worked on the product for close to six years, across frontend and backend.
A recommendation product lives or dies on two things that pull against each other: the quality of the matching, and how little the user has to do before it works. Ask for too much rating up front and nobody finishes onboarding. Ask for too little and the first recommendations are wrong, which is the one mistake this category cannot afford, because a bad recommendation reads as a broken product.
CodigoDelSur took over the existing iOS and Android MVP and stabilised it first, then built new features across the stack with a dedicated React Native team on the frontend and Node.js on the backend. Running both platforms from one React Native codebase kept the pace of feature work sustainable for a small team over years rather than months, which is what a recommendation product needs: the matching only improves with iteration.
