Uplift is a buy now, pay later platform built for travel: it lets people finance a trip at the moment they book it, inside the airline, cruise line or hotel's own checkout. CodigoDelSur built its native iOS and Android apps with a team that grew past 17 engineers across both platforms. Upgrade acquired Uplift in July 2023 for $100 million in cash and stock.
Buy now, pay later for travel is not the same product as buy now, pay later for a pair of shoes. The purchase is large, often booked months ahead, and the financing decision has to happen inside somebody else's checkout, in the seconds a customer will wait before abandoning a booking. That put two very different problems on one team: an SDK clean enough for an airline to embed, and consumer apps that make a loan legible to someone booking a holiday.
CodigoDelSur built Uplift's native iOS and Android applications and worked on the point-of-sale SDK integration that carries the financing offer into partner checkouts. The apps covered the borrower portal, where customers see their plan, remaining balance and payment schedule, plus the account and servicing flows behind it.
