HeyGroup is a mobile app, available for both iOS and Android devices, that helps groups organize real-life experiences to promote stronger, happier, and healthier communities. The application allows people to plan events for different types of groups such as friends, family, sports, clubs, or volunteering. HeyGroup makes it easier for everyone to coordinate, chat, split expenses, and track payments.
The company had worked with another vendor for the initial development phase, but they had been unable to finalize an MVP. The existing code was plagued with bugs, and it presented stability and performance issues. Once we started working with them, the goal was the completion of the MVP for an initial round of 50 users, as well as the implementation of several new features, the stabilization of the app, and the improvement of its performance.
We started by running a debugging process on the existing code, as well as improving the performance of the database, AWS configuration, and backend endpoints. Our team, which included frontend and backend developers, a UX/UI designer, and a QA engineer, reviewed the root cause of the issues and proposed several improvements and refactors. We then proceeded with the development of new features and enhancement of the existing ones to achieve a fully functional Minimum Viable Product.
The HeyGroup MVP went live after 5 intense months of work, and it’s currently available both on the App Store & Google Play in a limited number of countries for the time being. The app is stable and its performance has improved considerably (currently at a 0.95 Apdex score). With a fully functional product, HeyGroup is all set to start growing its user base!
